Stay, Son of God

Heaven is so near today
Heaven is so near.
If I could hug my Shepherd here today
I’d hug my Shepherd here.

I love the Man Who is the Christ
Son of the Living God.
I love the One Who pleads for me,
Once anguished on the cross.

I love the One Whose marks of love
are scars upon His hands.
I love the One who raised me up
and seated me with Him.

When shall I see Him face to face?
When shall I hear Him say my name?
When shall I live within His house,
a pillar in His temple?

When shall I worship day and night?
Oh in His presence day and night!
Yet night again will never be,
though sun and moon will pass away,
for He remains the light always!

Stay, Son of God, stay.
Stay with me, suspend Your journey.
Turn aside and eat and drink.
my heart it burns within me!

Speak, precious Lord, speak.
Your words they are my food and drink,
my heart it burns within me!

Here, Son of God, here,
I’m here until You call me there,
and here I’ll wait, I’ll watch, I’ll pray,
I’ll love You with my heart, soul, strength.

Come visit me,
O visit, Lord!
Come sing to me at night.
Come let me glimpse eternal flame.
Lord, You are my great desire!
