Bible Story Reenactment

Several times a day every day for about two weeks, Elijah and Joel acted out the story of Jesus’ death, burial, resurrection and ascension; they would take turns, one being the Roman soldier and the other being Jesus, quoting lines from the Bible I didn’t even know they knew. One day they were on round two of this very dramatic reenactment when I hear Elijah sigh and giggle then take a deep breath. He was “on the cross” with arms drooping while Joel was taking Roman soldier jeering to new heights. Elijah finally moaned (half laughing, half whining) and said,

“Joel, my arms are getting tired, would you please hurry up and pierce me in the side?”

After Joel played his part, Elijah’s hands fell with a slap, he sighed and said, “Whew, good, now I’m going to the tomb!”
