Heart Beauty

Our culture is obsessed with a standard of “beauty” unattainable to most women, and the few that do make the cut eventually grow old and all “beauty” fades away. Many of the ones that feel they don’t measure up will either struggle with low self-esteem or self- hatred and spend their lives trying to be thinner, tanner, have bigger or straighter or curlier hair; some will have plastic surgery, others will drag their families into debt shopping and in the end someone will walk past, appear on the television or in a magazine that is exceedingly “prettier” in some way. How many hours have been spent in front of the mirror, critically analyzing faults and wishing away imperfections? In each one of us there is a desire to be thought of as truly beautiful, stunning even. This desire is God-given, but it’s been perverted. God never intended that outward beauty matter all that much. Why do you think it fades away? Because it’s not really that important. Anything that truly matters lasts not just for a few years, but forever. Honestly girls, when judgement day comes I can’t see God asking why we didn’t all have hott bodies!  Because what our Creator finds beautiful isn’t the dust He created us with, but the person He put inside. There’s One Who’s opinion of us meets with the core of why we desire, it touches our eternal longings and fulfills them. This One, this beautiful God, made us for love – to know His love and love Him in return – He made us like He is: beautiful. There is a beauty that outlasts time, it exceeds natural beauty to unlimited heights, it brings fulfillment on the deepest level and is truly satisfying; it is a comeliness that seeks to attract the attention of One Man, Jesus; and His gaze never wanders, we are each His favorite. There is no competition here because we are each completely loved and found entirely, perfectly lovely. This is the beauty of a pure heart.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

Charm  is deceptive and beauty fades, but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.

Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty that depends on fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should be known for the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.

(matthew 5:8, proverbs 31:30, 1 peter 3:3-4)

My heart is for Your eyes alone, O God.

  1. This touched my heart so much! That is an amazing word. I’ve always recited this and known it, but you put it into a written word that is so full of truth. It’s sad the extents we go to and the mental hits we take focusing on our outward beauty when we are already beautiful in Him 🙂

  2. This is so true Aub I w2ant my heart to be for Him and Him alone.

  3. Such a wonderful, timely word, one that we all need to hear. Thank you.

When it is all said and done – He is beautiful and He loves us. Worthy, worthy is the Lamb. You’re beautiful, Jesus. So beautiful. You are beauty defined, worthy of all our love, our lives and nothing and no one else compares.
