Elijah, Joel and Jesus

Their room was dark with only the hallway light shining in through the door, Paul had just given them goodnight kisses when Elijah asked if I would come in and pray for them before bed. I knelt down beside Elijah’s bed while he asked, “Mom, will you pray for me that Jesus will come into my heart so that I can see His pictures and hear His voice? I really want to hear His voice.” He repeated after me, Father God, I believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose up again from the grave; Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart; forgive me of anything bad I’ve ever done and make my heart clean, clean, clean because that’s what You love to do! Amen. Elijah smiled wide and said he felt Jesus in his heart and that he already heard His voice. Joel then tugged on my arm and asked if I would pray for him that Jesus would come into his heart and break the chains and throw the chains in the lake of fire. I had Joel repeat a prayer that Jesus would come into his heart, break the chains and fill him with peace; the presence of God filled their room – so much peace, joy and love. The boys began to giggle and we thanked God for His Holy Spirit. “I just heard Jesus’s voice, Mom,” Elijah said. “He told me that when i go to school tomorrow I am going to be nice to everyone; and that He is with me.” After I left the room and cracked the door, Elijah began to sing. He sang for 10 or 15 minutes to the Lord and Paul and I stood still to listen with tears and smiles as he sang things like Jesus, come into my heart and take all my sins away… Come, Holy Spirit… Satan has no power. The songs flowed out of him and we all drifted to sleep covered in the presence and peace of the Holy Spirit.
